Perfect Website Creator

If you’re looking for an inexpensive website creation software program, then Perfect Website Creator by Comsi Corporation is perfect for you.
Ease of Use:   Excellent
Once you’ve installed Perfect Website Creator, you might have a little trouble finding and opening the program. The software creates a folder in your start menu called CoffeeCup Software, not Cosmi or Perfect Website Creator, as you’d expect.
The built-in templates are easy to use if you stick to a basic look and feel. Building a webpage from scratch might require some extra work with this program though, compared to our higher-ranked website creation products.
Feature Set:   Excellent
Perfect Website Creator doesn’t have the features that our top-ranked products offer, but it does have a few nice features to give you some cool effects. With Perfect Website Creator you can drag and drop a shape on your webpage and create your own buttons with special effects.
Another feature we appreciated is the ability to add scripting languages, such as JavaScript and VBScript, by merely selecting the HTML tool and either typing in or cutting and pasting the script. Perfect Website Creator does the rest.
Templates:   Excellent
One of the strong points of Perfect Website Creator is the number of templates it offers: over 70, ranging from business to classic to private. But making changes to the templates wasn’t as easy as we had hoped. We loaded the birthday template and ran into difficulty changing the color and text on the link buttons.
Graphic Imaging Tools:   Excellent
Perfect Website Creator can add simple special effects to your images, including shadows, bevels and glow. The graphic imaging tools screen was awkward to use, however.
Help/Support:   Excellent
Perfect Website Creator has a built-in user guide with some graphical displays of the control panel and explanations of the tools offered. Some choices in the help file index, however, lead to a
Summary:
For its low price, Perfect Website Creator is a bargain that offers enough features and special effects to build some nice webpages. If you want to use a template to create your website, there is a fair selection to choose from in Perfect Website Creator

Web Page Maker

Web Page Maker by Web Page Maker Software Inc. has its strong points, including scripting support. Unfortunately, the program’s capabilities are limited because it lacks some basic features.
Ease of Use:   Excellent
Web Page Maker has a simple-to-use control panel, but you can’t simply drag-and-drop an object and place it on your webpage as you can in most website creation software. On the other hand, working with multiple webpages is simple: Web Page Wizard has a website viewer where you simply click the different webpages or elements, then to work on them.
Feature Set:   Excellent
One of Web Page Maker’s unique features is its built-in, ready-to-use JavaScripts. You can add a live clock quickly, change the cursor effects to dancing stars or an elastic trail, add snow effects to your page, highlight an image, create wave text or add scrollbar colors.
Web Page Maker also includes fantastic FTP functions. Not only can you FTP your website, but also publish the current page, the entire site, all files or just HTML files.
Web Page Maker has a built-in text editor, but the software lacks a spell checker.
Templates:   Excellent
Not only does Web Page Maker offer ready-to-use, professional templates that are a breeze to edit, the program will also allow you to create your own templates. We’re unsure, however, about the number of templates that come with Web Page Maker; the trial version we reviewed only offered four templates.
Graphic Imaging Tools:   Excellent
Web Page Maker includes an excellent library of button, headers, clipart and more. You can resize images as you insert them, as well as add borders and color. Unfortunately, Web Page Maker has only a limited selection of special effects available for images.
Help/Support:   Excellent
Web Page Maker Software needs to make some improvements for help and support. Although the help files have a fair amount of content, they are not searchable and don’t include an index.
Web Page Maker Software’s online support among the weakest we’ve seen. You can contact the company by email and read a few frequently asked questions, but that’s all.
Summary:
Web Page Maker is only an average website creation software program, though it has some handy features that might make it perfect for a novice user interested in creating professional looking websites.

SiteSpinner

SiteSpinner V2 by Virtual Mechanics not only provides the tools necessary for creating a webpage, but also provides text, table and image editors to help you through the process.

Ease of Use:

Some of SiteSpinner’s tools might take some time for a novice user to understand and use effectively. Adding text and images is easy: just click the object on the toolbar and select a space on your webpage to create the object. However, adding Flash, multimedia and scripting languages is much more difficult.

Feature Set:

With the features included with SiteSpinner V2, you can custom-create your own buttons, banners, logos and almost anything you can imagine for your webpage. The program also includes an excellent text editor, a spell checker and a good assortment of other tools.

Templates:

Although SiteSpinner offers over 30 built-in templates, you can’t view the template before you select it. Once you’ve found the right template, however, they are easy to edit.

Graphic Imaging Tools:

If you’re just interested in adding images to your webpage, SiteSpinner can do just that with ease. You can add the appearance of a frame around the image, resize and change brightness and contrast.

Help/Support:

SiteSpinner offers tutorials, user guides and online support, as well as a help button on their control panel where you can choose the help pointer, select a tool and obtain instant help on that topic. Unfortunately, the tutorials are difficult to understand and follow.

Summary:

SiteSpinner is average website creation software. If you have the time and patience to learn to use this program, then you might like some of the features SiteSpinner V2 offers. But if you’re looking for an easy-to-use website creation software program, we recommend one of our higher-ranked products.

Web Studio 4

Ease of Use:

Web Studio 4 is simple to use. All you do is select from a variety of galleries located at the bottom of the control panel, then drag and drop items anywhere on your webpage. You can view gallery selections as large images or thumbnails.

Feature Set:

Any time you create a website for everyone to see and use, you want to make sure you don’t have spelling errors. Web Studio 4 includes a spell checker and a variety of other features to help you create and maintain professional-looking websites. Web Studio 4 also has the ability to add images from a file and directly from a scan.

Unlike some other website creation software, creating mouse rollover buttons in Web Studio 4 is simple: select the rollover button studio, type in the text for the button, slide a bar to change the "mouse-over" and "mouse-down" buttons and then press OK. You can also change the text font, appearance, color or even add animation while creating the rollover button.

Templates:

Web Studio 4 offers some professional-looking templates and more by download. Despite this, we feel that Web Studio 4 could use more templates in broader categories.

Graphic Imaging Tools:

Web Studio 4 includes some nice features for enhancing and adding effects to pictures and graphics, but the software lacks the ability to crop an image.

One graphic imaging tool that Web Studio 4 includes is the ability to create thumbnail images. When you’re working with images on a website, you usually want images small enough that your website won’t take forever to load and so you can preview several easily. Thumbnails are scaled-down versions of images that load quicker and allow the user to preview the image.

Help/Support:

It’s not very often when you can find a software program that makes getting help and support simple; Back To The Beach Software, LLC’s Web Studio 4 does just that. The help option on the Web Studio 4 toolbar provides access to documentation, online tutorials, forums, newsletters, support and a number of other options.

Summary:
While we were pleased with most of the program, we were disappointed that Web Studio 4 does not allow you to create your own objects; Web Studio 4 is designed to do most everything for you. This is ideal for someone who wants to create websites quickly, but the convenience limits the creativity power of the software.

If Web Studio 4 included tools for creating objects, included more webpage templates and additional graphics tools, the program would have been an ideal contender for the two top-ranked positions on our site. If you want these abilities in your website creation software, check out Web Easy Professional or Web Plus

Intuit Website Creator 2010

Ease of Use:

Intuit Website Creator offers one of the most simple and streamlined approaches to website creation available, reducing the process to three easy steps. The process begins with the selection of a unique domain name, which is supported by Intuit. Subscribers can then customize their own 5-page website using the thousands of available templates with dozens of tools and features available to personalize their website. With Intuit Website Creator, no change is permanent; subscribers can continue to make changes or alterations as often as need. Also, no HTML programming is required; users without a background in coding languages can create a website using simple, intuitive drag & drop tools.

Feature Set:

Site creation tools aside, among the more important tools offered by Intuit include complete web site tracking and statistics, 100MB of storage and 5GB per month of bandwidth usage as well as complete integration with PayPal and other credit card processing services.

Standout Features:

Ease of Use:

Even though you can learn to use every aspect of WebPlus without reading the help files, those that take the time to do so will likely become comfortable with the program faster. If you are not familiar with this type of software, we encourage you to use the many help guides and tutorials because it may appear to be a little overboard for you.

Every tool is available from the control panel at the click of the mouse button, though you might need to get used to where each one is located. Also, some of the attributes, themes, schemes and object styles have several levels of options.

We found that the editing in Web Easy Professional 8 was easier than in WebPlus, however, we found WebPlus to be more advanced in its features.

Feature Set:

If you’re the creative type, you’ll enjoy the features that WebPlus offers. You can choose preconfigured art or button shapes for your webpage, or use the freehand tool to create your own shapes and text formats to match your imagination. There are many styles and colors for the buttons that help you get a consistent feel for your web page.

If you don’t want to spend time creating navigation buttons, you can select the navigation/theme tool and choose from a variety of button, menu and toolbar styles instantly. You may then click and drag the navigation buttons anywhere you went them on the web page. We were very impressed with how easy this was and found it very efficient.

A nice little feature to have is the preview option. We liked this because you can preview the site as it will really be when it goes live. You can use the links and push all of the buttons and it will act as if it is live.

WebPlus has two options on the toolbar with options that can enhance the look and feel of any webpage you create. You can add filter effects to an image or text, add instant 3D effects and more.
